Fred weakens into tropical depression, could hug Florida coast this weekend as a tropical storm

Fred weakened into a tropical depression Wednesday night as it battled the mountains of Hispaniola, but forecasts still have it targeting Florida this weekend as a tropical storm, the National Weather Service said in is 11 p.m. update.
